Roles and Responsibilities
- Collect environmental information from county and local field equipment; county and city public works vehicles; and public and private weather service providers.
- Distribute maintenance and construction work plan information, and asset restrictions to regional ISPs; regional and local TMCs; regional transit providers; and regional emergency management providers.
- Obtain work zone status from county and city public works vehicles.
- Operate and control county and local ITS field equipment, such as portable DMS units, to display current work zone status and work zone warnings to the traveling public.
- Provide dispatch functions for county and city public works vehicles, and receive operational status from these vehicles.
- Provide maintenance and construction work plan information to regional rail operations, the media, and regional multimodal transportation providers.
- Provide maintenance for local, county, and city roads in each region, including pavement maintenance and construction activities, and infrastructure monitoring.
- Provide maintenance to county and local field equipment, as well as FDOT District equipment, and provide field equipment status back to the corresponding TMC.
- Provide road weather information to county and local traffic control systems, as well as the FDOT TMCs.
- Provide safety monitoring for county and local work zones utilizing county and local field equipment, and county and city public works vehicles.
- Provide work zone information to county and local traffic control systems, and to the FDOT District TMCs.
- Provide/Receive work zone information to/from other county and city maintenance, systems as well as the FDOT District construction and maintenance operations.
- Public works vehicles provide automated maintenance status information to the county and city roadway maintenance and construction operations, as well as the county and local equipment repair facility.
- Receive AVL information from county and city public works vehicles.
- Receive wide area alert information from the county EOCs.
