FDOT Commercial Vehicle Origin/Destination Data Collection

Project Description: The Commercial Vehicle Origin/Destination Data Collection Project will collect anonymized commercial vehicle information to gather origin and destination probe data from FDOT Connected Vehicle wayside stations.

Project Functional Requirements (Element - Functional Object):

• Commercial Vehicle - Vehicle Basic Safety Communication
• 3: The vehicle shall provide its location with road-level accuracy to on-board applications.

Project Operational Concepts:

Roles and Responsibilities

• Private Commercial Vehicle and Fleet Operators
• Operates Commercial Vehicles and freight containers on Florida roadways.


• FDOT Districts
• Collects transportation data for each FDOT District for use in the associated system (e.g. databases, models, analytical tools, user interface devices) analyses with their tools.
• Manages and maintains a complete inventory of FDOT mobile resources, including generators and dynamic message signs.
• Operates and maintains SunGuide as a transportation management platform.
