• 10: The center shall exchange data with other payment administration agencies to coordinate toll transactions and pricing.


• CFX Expressway Management System - TIC Data Collection
• 1: The center shall collect, process, and store traffic and highway condition information, including incident information, detours and road closures, event information, recommended routes, and current speeds on specific routes.
• 2: The transportation information center shall select real-time information on the state of the regional transportation system including current traffic and road conditions, weather conditions, transit information, parking information, special event and incident information.
• 6: The center shall collect, process, and store toll fee information.


• CFX Expressway Management System - TMC Basic Surveillance
• 1: The center shall monitor, analyze, and store traffic sensor data (speed, volume, occupancy) collected from field elements under remote control of the center.


• CFX Field Equipment - Roadway Basic Surveillance
• 1: The field element shall collect, process, digitize, and send traffic sensor data (speed, volume, and occupancy) to the center for further analysis and storage, under center control.
• 2: The field element shall collect, process, and send traffic images to the center for further analysis and distribution.
• 4: The field element shall return sensor and CCTV system operational status to the controlling center.


• CFX Field Equipment - Roadway Passive Monitoring
• 1: The field element shall collect, process, and send data to the center to uniquely identify passing vehicles in order to support travel time measurement


• CFX Toll Plazas - Roadway Toll Collection Support
• 1: The field element shall read data from passing vehicles to support toll payment transactions.
• 2: The field element shall calculate the toll due based on the vehicle characteristics (vehicle size, weight, axle count, etc.) and stored toll prices.
• 3: The field element shall update the stored value after debiting the toll amount and send a record of the transaction to a center.
• 4: The field element shall read the credit identity from the passing vehicle and send that identity and the amount to be debited to a center.
• 7: The field element shall control roadside displays indicating success or failure of the toll transaction to the driver.
• 8: The field element shall control cameras, obtain images, and forward images of toll violators to a center.

Roles and Responsibilities

• CFX
• Control and coordinate highway traffic and lane control signals on CFX roadways.
• Coordinate maintenance resources for incident response with the FDOT District 5 maintenance system, and county and city PWDs.
• Coordinate threat information, such as surveillance or sensor data, with local traffic and emergency management agencies.
• Determine toll rate to use based on data analytics.
• Perform network surveillance for detection and verification of incidents on CFX roadways.
• Provide incident information to travelers using traffic information devices on roadways, such as DMS devices and HAR broadcasts, and through local ISPs and Web sites.
• Provide information to local traffic signal system centers regarding CFX operations.
• Provide traffic information reports to and coordinate traffic with other regional traffic management agencies, including the FDOT District 5 RTMC.
• Receive incident information, incident response status, and resource requests from the county EOC/warning points.
