This area includes all the roles and responsibilities that have been identified for the SunGuide ATMS Integration project.
- FDOT District 4
Roles and Responsibilities
- Communicates with ITS Roadway Equipment and Connected Vehicle Roadside Equipment (RSE) to monitor and manage traffic flow and monitor the condition of the roadway, surrounding environmental conditions, and field equipment status.
- Controls and manages arterial management system and ITS traffic management devices, such as dynamic message signs, and CCTV cameras.
- Manages freeway system.
- Manages traffic and transportation resources to support allied agencies in responding to, and recovering from, incidents ranging from minor traffic incidents through major disasters.
- Monitors and controls traffic and the road network.
- FDOT District 6
Roles and Responsibilities

- Operates and maintains Miami-Dade Expressway facilities.
- FDOT State Traffic Engineering and Operations Office
Roles and Responsibilities
- Collect traffic information; incident information; multimodal information; maintenance and construction information; work zone information; and weather information, and provide it to the public via Florida 511 and private sector information providers
- Coordinate and share traveler information with Florida 511 and all private sector traveler ISPs in the state.
- Coordinate emergency information with state, county and local emergency management agencies.
- Coordinate traffic information with county and local traffic control systems.
- Coordinate transportation information between FDOT and other Florida TMCs.
- FDOT District 5
Roles and Responsibilities
- Manages major roadways for Florida DOT in District 5 and interstates around Florida that are not monitored by other systems.
- Provides incident management for planned (e.g. major sporting events) and unplanned incidents (e.g. major weather events).
- Provides key traffic monitoring and motorist information systems for roadways and bridges in District 5 and around the state.
- FDOT District 1
Roles and Responsibilities
- Controls CCTV, DMS, HAR, and RWIS in District 1, primarily along I-75.
- Serves as a backup for the I-75 Satellite Center in Manatee County and operates the I-75 Satellite Center systems on nights and weekends.
