Project Description: This project would create a Cape Coral Traffic Monitoring Center. The center would have the ability to monitor traffic ,but control would remain with Lee County.

Cape Coral Traffic Monitoring Center - TMC Regional Traffic Management

1: The center shall exchange traffic information with other traffic management centers including incident information, congestion data, traffic data, signal timing plans, and real-time signal control information.

Lee County and Cities Field Equipment - Roadway Basic Surveillance

1: The field element shall collect, process, digitize, and send traffic sensor data (speed, volume, and occupancy) to the center for further analysis and storage, under center control.

2: The field element shall collect, process, and send traffic images to the center for further analysis and distribution.

Lee County-Wide Advanced Traffic Management System - TMC Regional Traffic Management

1: The center shall exchange traffic information with other traffic management centers including incident information, congestion data, traffic data, signal timing plans, and real-time signal control information.

Roles and Responsibilities
- Lee County DOT
- Coordinate traffic information and traffic control with the FDOT; Charlotte County; Collier County; and county and local TCSs.
- Monitor traffic images and traffic flow data through CCTVs and field sensors, and maintain operational control of its own field equipment.
- Operate county and local drawbridge systems in conjunction with county and city signal systems.
- Operate toll collection systems in conjunction with LeeWay, including both open road and tollbooth systems such as tag coordination with the E-Pass, LeeWay, and SunPass).
- Operate traffic signal systems for Lee County.
- Provide emergency signal preemption for county fire and county EMS agencies for signals at Fire/EMS stations
- Provide emergency signal preemption for local fire/EMS agencies.
- Provide signal preemption for railroads.
