Wireless connectivity for Rural Signal on US-41for Advanced Traffic Signal Performance Measures (ATSPM)

Project Description: This project will provide wireless connectivity for Rural Signals on the US –41 that will allow traffic data collection and monitoring of the signals from a centralized location. Collected data will be analyzed to support performance based approaches to traffic signal operations, maintenance and management.

Project Functional Requirements (Element - Functional Object):

• FDOT District 1 Field Equipment - Roadway Basic Surveillance
• 1: The field element shall collect, process, digitize, and send traffic sensor data (speed, volume, and occupancy) to the center for further analysis and storage, under center control.
• 4: The field element shall return sensor and CCTV system operational status to the controlling center.
• 5: The field element shall return sensor and CCTV system fault data to the controlling center for repair.


• FDOT District 1 Field Equipment - Roadway Field Management Station Operation
• 1: The field element shall accept configuration information from the center.


• FDOT District 1 Field Equipment - Roadway Signal Control
• 1: The field element shall control traffic signals under center control.
• 4: The field element shall report the current signal control information to the center.

• 1: The center shall monitor, analyze, and store traffic sensor data (speed, volume, occupancy) collected from field elements under remote control of the center.
