Roles and Responsibilities:

Emergency Management for Southwest Florida Regional ITS Architecture - FDOT District 1
• Coordinate emergency response with county EOCs and county fire/EMS agencies.
• Receive Amber Alert and other wide area alert information from the county EOC/warning point.
• Receive early warning information and threat information from the county EOC/warning point.
• Receive emergency vehicle preemption from Charlotte and Collier counties; the cities of Bradenton, Sarasota, Lakeland, Marco Island, Naples, Venice, and Winter Haven; and Manatee and Sarasota counties.
• Coordinate with regional medical centers regarding the status of the care facility, as well as the patient status en route to the medical center.
• Suggest routes to fire/EMS vehicles in response to an emergency, and track EMS vehicles to incidents.
• Dispatch fire and EMS vehicles to incidents in the region.
• Participate in incident response, coordination, and reporting of the regional incident and mutual aid network.

Incident Management (Emergency) for Southwest Florida Regional ITS Architecture - FDOT District 1
• Coordinate incident response with other public safety agencies, such as the police, sheriff's office, and the FHP.
• Coordinate local fire and EMS resources for incident response with regional traffic agencies, such as the FDOT, and county and city agencies.
• Coordinate maintenance resources for incident response with county and city DPWs, and the FDOT Maintenance Office.
• Dispatch local fire and EMS vehicles to incidents within jurisdiction.
• Perform incident detection and verification for all streets in the region, and provide this information to traffic and other safety agencies.
