Description: Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT). The mission of the department is to provide a safe and reliable transportation system that ensures the mobility of people and goods, enhances economic prosperity and preserves the quality of Florida's environment and communities. Various modes of transportation are supported by the department including roadways, railways, seaport and airports. The FDOT Traffic Engineering and Operations Office provides support and expertise in the application of traffic engineering principles and practices to improve safety and mobility. This office is responsible for several program areas such as Traffic Engineering Studies, Signing, Services, Traffic Incident Management, and Transportation Systems Management and Operations (TSM&O). The TSM&O section is responsible for four main areas including (1) SunGuide software management and ITS architecture updates, (2) telecommunications to support ITS deployments, (3) Florida advanced traveler information system management and (4) arterial management.
