- Monitor traffic images and traffic flow data through CCTVs and field sensors, and maintain operational control of its own field equipment.

- Monitor secure area sensors and report alert notifications to regional information service providers (ISPs), the FDOT maintenance yards, and regional emergency management agencies.

- Coordinate highway-rail intersection (HRI) signal adjustments and provide track status information (e.g., blockage) to rail operators and local traffic operations.
- Coordinate traffic information and traffic control with Manatee-Sarasota counties; Collier County; Highlands County; Lee County and cities; and Manatee and Polk counties.
- Operate traffic signal systems on county and locally owned roads.
- Provide emergency signal preemption for county fire and county emergency medical service (EMS) agencies.
- Provide emergency signal preemption for local fire and local EMS agencies.
- Manatee County Area Traffic Agencies
Roles and Responsibilities
- Coordinate traffic information and traffic control with county and local traffic systems; the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT); and other southwest Florida TMCs.
- Obtain traffic images and traffic flow data through closed-circuit televisions (CCTVs) and field sensors from Manatee and Sarasota counties, and the cities of Bradenton and Venice, and maintain operational control of all field equipment.
- Operate traffic signal systems in cooperation with the cities of Bradenton, Sarasota and the counties of Manatee and Sarasota.
