- Provide fixed-route bus service for Sarasota County and the surrounding area.
- Provide paratransit/fixed-route transit services to Sarasota County.
- Provide transit schedule and fare information to to the public via multiple formats
- Track and evaluate schedule performance on all SCAT fixed-route and paratransit vehicles.
- Provide real time bus arrival information to travelers.
- Provide support for bike-sharing, car/vanpooling and other innovative micro-transit services.
FDOT District 1 US 41 Connected Vehicle Deployment in Sarasota County Roles and Responsibilities
- Provide fixed-route bus service for Sarasota County and the surrounding area.
- Provide paratransit/fixed-route transit services to Sarasota County.
- Provide transit passenger electronic fare payment on all fixed-route transit vehicles, including the ability to obtain a fare payment card at agency-owned transit kiosks or other kiosks.
- Track and evaluate schedule performance on all SCAT fixed-route and paratransit vehicles.

- Obtain traffic signal priority from the Sarasota County TSCS using Sarasota County roadside field equipment for SCAT fixed-route transit vehicles.
Transit Management for Southwest Florida Regional ITS Architecture - FDOT District 1
- Provide fixed-route bus service for Sarasota County and the surrounding area.
- Coordinate emergency plans with county EOCs, and provide emergency transit services for evacuations, fires, and disasters, including re-entry services.
- Provide paratransit/fixed-route transit services to Sarasota County.
- Coordinate multimodal connections for fixed-route transit vehicles with Manatee County.
- Provide transit passenger electronic fare payment on all fixed-route transit vehicles, including the ability to obtain a fare payment card at agency-owned transit kiosks or other kiosks.

- Provide security cameras on transit vehicles and at transfer stations. Vehicles are also equipped with silent alarms.
